Phenylalanine good or bad for you

When i look at the back of just about any whey protein cannister I see a small text saying Contains Phenylalanine what is that stuuf and is it bad for you??

An extremely, and I mean extremely, small group of people can have a negative fatal reaction to phenyl. This amount of people is so miniscule that food products may still contain it but they warn people of it nonetheless.

Good luck and hope you don't die soon!
