Teen bodybuilding workout routine
Posted by Griever
I'm 13, (Beginner at training). But please don't ignore me because of my age. 5"7 130 pounds. (I know it's not heavy enough).
Could someone please give me an example of one of their workouts as i think that i am over training and maybe that's why i haven't been putting any mass on. If i'm wrong could someone explain a way to put on mass. I try to eat a lot of protein, But i don't take the protein shakes so maybe i'm not getting enough. Or should i concentrate more on calories but i don't want to lose any muscle. I do at the moment have a solid form with a clear six pack and i can see the other muscles, Triceps etc But i want them to be bigger. What should i do? Sorry it's a lot of questions but some advise would be greatly apprieciated.
Thanx

You are very young. You dont want to do anything that is going to hurt you. I would stick to very basic weightlifting exercises. Benchpress, Squats, etc.. At your age your Testostarone levels are going to be going to be going through the roof. In the next few years you will be able to put some quality muscle one. Its ok to be a kid and just enjoy life. Just basic exercises is what I recommend.

I don't know if I would even do those exercises. You are WAY too young to start putting on a lot of mass. You should wait till you are about 16, until then, a lot of your joints aren't fully developed and you can really hurt yourself. You might want to stick with the basic exercises, push-ups and sit-ups till then. Don't screw up what could be a great future of lifting because you want to be big now. Just my advice!!

I don't know whether this is relevent but i am turning 14 in a couple of months. But anyway, I saw another post from another 13 year old and he was told to do the Bench Press, Squat etc and to eat his weight in protein. You don't agree with that?

I don't agree with that in the sense of straining yourself too hard. He is talking about building mass at thirteen and the way you build mass is to go as heavy as possible. At 13, your body is not developed enough to be putting that much strain on it. My little bro is 16 and he is just now to the point where he could start going really heavy. At thirteen your growth plates are not fully developed, if you strain those too hard, you have a good chance of stunting your growth and doing some really bad damage to your joints. You can do these exercises, it's great that you are exercising period, but I suggest NOT going really heavy at that young of an age. I would say that most of the serious body builders on this site would agree. Well, that's my two cents.... PEACE
