Ok from what i have gathered so far is that if you are trying to lose weight it should be: 50% protien, 30% carbs, and 20% fat.

For protien you should have 1g per 1 pound in bodyweight. So that should equal 50% of your diet. Then you would work out the others using that to base upon. Good Luck.

(If any of the others know what the percentage is then say. But im pretty sure thats correct but again correct me if im wrong.)

40-40-20 is good. Mine is closer to 45-40 14 (Protein-Carbs-Fats). Just make sure your carbs come from good sources. No sugars, refined flours, etc. Brown rice, whole wheat breads, Sweet potatoes are EXCELLENT sources of carbs. I'm eating the following for breakfast right now:

Kellogs Nutrigrain Whole Grain Waffles with sugar free syrup.

2 Veggie sausage patties (3g of fat total, 22g of protein)

1 Bartlett Pear The extra carb is because breakfast is my first meal and I need to replenish my carb stores before afternoon training. Plus pears are high in fiber and they keep the pipes clean.

1 Liter water.

Next meal in 2.5 hours.

Heres an idea. eat right (like nick and others said), do some cardio, and do some resistance training. that will satisfy all your goals. you dont sound like you are very far off from your goal. consider yourself lucky, some people on this board start training with the goal of loosing like 50 lbs of fat or more. i mean if your slim already and all you want is a more defined abdominal area, then basically all you need is to get on a good ab routine and do cardio a few times a week. eventually you may want to do more, but for now that should suffice. about diet, you dont really seem super serious (a lot of people arent, dont feel bad) so i wouldnt worry about percentages just try to pick foods that you know are healthy (low in fat, etc) and cut out any junk. youre not gonna benefit yourself by waiting around for some perfect answer. hope this is helpful.

If you want too lose bodyfat 40% carbs is too much. i am 200 lbs and i can get aways with eating between 85 carbs a day, i get most of my cals from protein and fat. I didnt see my abs until i started this diet. Eat lots of fat, but only the good fats like flax oils, mct's, and even natural peanutbutter is good too, im cutting up and still eating probably 1/4 of lb of peanutbutter.

We're at odds with the whole low carb diet. Granted, you make good and fast gains with it....especially if ketosis is achieved. However, ketones are NOT the body's preferred fuel source.

There are many (reputable) reports of long term damage. If you are an athlete, bodybuilder, etc... your performance will suffer. Anyone on a keto diet can attest to that.

Most people who cut out carbs ate shit carbs in the first place. Chips, White Breads, Snapple, Kool-Aid, Sodas etc. I've gotten great results with 40 and even 50% carbs, because the carbs are good, clean ones.

Keto diets also do not lead toward a healthy, wholesome nutrition lifestyle as they are just that... a diet. Look to put the fat right back on eventually.

They do work for a lot of people. Eating clean is a harder and longer road. In the long term, however, I feel it is the best road.

First off everyone is differnt...carbs make me a fatty macfatty.. i have a very low carb diet...cept when i carb up 1 or 2 days a week...the rest of the week i only get carbs from skim milk, cottage cheese, ect..stuff found in mydaily diet of pure protien... and im a waiter I bus my own tables work about 10 hour days and still go the gym with no energy probd.....so...what im saying is... everyone is differnt try differnt diets and find the one that works for you.....stay on a diet for atleast a month before you drop it
